Great Bag for the $, January 19, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Asolo Gear Encounter 60 Internal Frame Backpack (Sports) I got this bag last week. I've only taken it out once but I love it. Put a 30 degree bag in the main compartment (not enough room in the sleeping bag compartment for it), strapped a three man tent to the bottom with the straps that are there, packed the sleeping bag compartment with food and water for two days, a bunch of random camping supplies, flash light and extra batteries, some first aid stuff and there was still room left.
The bag for the camelback type water bladder is detachable and can be used as a backpack if you want to leave the majority of your stuff at camp. Also, the top is detachable and becomes a fannypack.
There are straps everywhere to adjust it to your size. I'm about 5'9" with a 30" waist, but it could be adjusted for someone much much bigger than I. Chest strap can be moved up or down, so it should work for the ladies too. The waist might not adjust smaller than a 25" waist. I could be wrong on this, I haven't tried to see how small it gets.

The detachable smaller pack functionality was definitely handy when you needed something small for day excursions. There are multiple pouches and compartments that can be used for whatever your needs are. This pack is definitely worth spending the extra money compared to similar, less expensive ones.
Great Backpack, January 26, 2012 This review is from: Asolo Gear Encounter 60 Internal Frame Backpack (Sports) The backpack is great for the price. The only thing I will mention is that the small removable pack on the front is pretty small. I was assuming it would be almost the size of a full backpack, but in fact, its basically a holder for your water bladder and a few small items/wallets. Great built quality on the pack in general, and there are many tie downs/loops to put external items. Love that the top removes to a fanny pack. A good buy!!!!
