Osprey Argon 85 Internal Frame Backpack - LG Delta Reviews
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Quality Design as Expected From Argon, February 13, 2011 This review is from: Osprey Argon 85 Internal Frame Backpack - In Your Choice of Styles (Misc.) I just got back from a seven day trip on Mount Rainier in Washington. I started with a 55 lb load and was TOTALLY IMPRESSED by this pack's performance. If carrying heavy loads over long hikes is what you do, then this pack won't disappoint. The suspension on the Argon has a level of adjustability that eliminated my usual pressure points. After a day of dialing it in, it became an extension of my body: very helpful when walking narrow game trails on scree fields. I also noted that there was no "internal frame sag syndrome" regardless of the terrain. My only wish? An external pocket on the belt.
Other features I loved:
1. The removable lid and hydration sleeve were great for day hikes out of base.
2. Lots of compression straps for tightening up your load
3. The WARRANTY is hands down the best on the market; if you break it, Osprey will fix it, no matter what!
Potential Cons:
1. Make no mistake, this is a heavy pack. If you're a fast and light,... Read more
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Lots to like about this pack, October 15, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Osprey Argon 85 Internal Frame Backpack - In Your Choice of Styles (Misc.) I'm a dad who will no doubt be carrying a lot of extra stuff when the little ones come along for the hike, so I got this pack with that in mind. This isn't for the minimalist by any means, as it is roomy, feature laden and weighs 6.5 pounds before you put anything in it, although it has enough cinch points, straps etc. to keep a minimal load packed down nicely.
Some things to be aware of -- the heat molded belt is really a nice, comfortable feature, but it can make it tough to lean the pack against anything so that you can get in the main compartment with the bag standing up.
-- The pack is tall, and you'll really have to play with the adjustments to avoid banging your head against the top.
-- The left side pocket is zippered, making it inaccessible with the pack on. I haven't found a valuable use for this, yet, but the Osprey folks are pretty smart so I'm sure I just haven't discovered it, yet.
-- The Argon doesn't have the stow-on-the-go... Read more
