33 of 34 people found the following review helpful Not perfect, but an excellent value!, December 22, 2008 By Amazon Verified Purchase There are a lot of better packs on the market and if you're going on an extended hike, you might want to purchase something more expensive. However, for a short hike, and for the money, this is an excellent pack. As another reviewer mentioned, the zippers are surprisingly stiff, but I haven't found that to be a problem, just an annoyance. The design is a little lacking in how the weight is distributed across the shoulders and back, which means that you need to be a little more careful in the way you pack (heaviest items on bottom), but my pack weighs 55 lbs, and I can carry it fine. Also, the internal frame is covered with a poorly designed vinyl flap inside the main storage compartment. As I use the pack I often accidentally stuff items inside the frame pocket by mistake. It's not a big deal, because the items aren't irretrievable, it just means that sometimes I wonder where something went, only to discover that it's inside the frame pocket. But for this price ... I honestly don't... Read more
13 of 15 people found the following review helpful Pack broke before use. Customer service non-existant, August 9, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: CUSCUS 6200ci 88L Internal Frame Hiking Camp Travel Backpack Gray (Misc.) Had a clip break before I even put the pack on my back (tightening the top straps to secure my sleeping bag). Hopefully the customer service is good with the lifetime warantly. Zippers are hard to deal with as others have mentioned, but are only an annoyance and definitely not a deal breaker. Would have loved a pocket for a water bladder. Other than that, it was roomy and packed well. Also, beware the shipping costs on this item. What was a great deal became only a good deal after shipping costs (almost half the price of the pack). Good deal for light campers who will only use it a couple times a year. Not sure it would keep up with the weekend warriors.
Update: I have spent two weeks trying to get in touch with Cuscus to resolve the broken strap issue. Although they advertise a lifetime warranty on the product I have found that contacting the company is impossible. I have left various messages which have not been addressed or returned by anyone. I have not been... Read more
6 of 6 people found the following review helpful Held in there, August 3, 2011 By This review is from: CUSCUS 6200ci 88L Internal Frame Hiking Camp Travel Backpack Gray (Misc.) This was my experience after backpacking across Europe. I filled it with about 25 kilograms and used it all the time.
After a 4 month backpacking trip in Asia with a Northface backpack that was constantly tearing and falling apart, I figured I wouldn't bother paying so much money next time. So I went with this for my last 5 month backpacking trip in Europe. It held together much better than my previous one. Most of the damage was done by airline baggage handling (get them wrapped before you fly!). The sternum strap broke in month 3, (typical of bags that I put through this kind of stress). The waist strap held together, although it had almost been completely torn off at the base at the end of my travels. And the waist strap seems to be a little loose. I had to adjust and tighten it often as it would slowly slip (the biggest flaw in this bag in my opinion). It did take some weight off the shoulders though.
No buckles broke, no zippers failed. Very simple design,... Read more
